If you are a University of Maryland College Park student, faculty, or
staff member, you can download free anti-virus software to your Windows
or Macintosh computer or pick up a copy of the Getting Connected CD at the
OIT Helpdesk.
Use the following tables below to download, install, upgrade, and update
the anti-virus software for your Windows or Macintosh operating
system:
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VirusScan 8.5i) for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista

There are two steps you should follow in order to use the Virex anti-virus
software to protect your computer.
- Download and Install the software / Purchase the CD
- Update the software--the software is
USELESS if it is not up-to-date and kept up-to-date on a
regular basis
