New accounts for students, faculty, and staff

Apply here for WAM, Glue, and Mail@umd accounts.

Mail@umd consolidates the e-mail services offered on several OIT systems at the University. It offers faster, more reliable service, virus scanning, and a Web-based interface that allows you to view and manage messages without configuring a browser client.

WAM - The WAM (for Workstations At Maryland) system provides a Unix shell account with full Internet access for any faculty, staff or student who wishes one. It provides a Unix command shell environment, programming, and various software packages on all OIT-supported services.

Glue - The Glue system provides a Unix shell account with full Internet access for any faculty, staff or student who wishes one. It provides a Unix command shell environment, programming, and various software packages. Some software licensed by individual departments and available on the Glue system is only available in certain workstation labs, on certain servers, or to users in specific groups. See your instructor or advisor to get any special permissions you may need.

Additionally, many affiliates are granted access. One logs into ARES using one's Directory ID and password. If you have questions regarding your Directory ID or password, please contact the OIT Help Desk directly.
